Spawning Temperatures Of Fish

For many species, especially panfish, some of the best fishing of the year takes place just before and during the spawn. Because most fish spawn in same shallows year after year excellent fishing opportunities typically exist. By using the chart below and keeping track of the water temperature where you fish you won’t miss out on this good fishing. Keep in mind that many fish will begin moving into these spawning areas well before the actual temperature of when they spawn. During this staging, or pre-spawn, period good fishing will also occur. However, once the water temperature has exceeded the below spawning temperature the fishing action will slow considerably as the majority of the fish will begin to leave.
